CYBERJAYA, Nov 28- Seven transmitter stations and 42 National Information Dissemination Centers (NADI) are still affected by the floods that hit the states of Kelantan and Terengganu.
According to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), as of 10.00 am, six transmitter stations in Kelantan were affected, namely in Bachok, Kota Bharu, Pasir Mas and Tanah Merah, while in Terengganu, one transmitter station was affected in Hulu Terengganu.
In addition, the 42 affected NADIs consist of 27 in Kelantan and 15 in Terengganu. All the NADIs had to be closed due to being inundated by water and affected by power outages, apart from being restricted to access the locations.
"In order to ensure that flood-affected residents in temporary relief centers (PPS) in both states can continue to connect via the Internet, the state-level MCMC has conducted coverage tests in several PPS to ensure that telecommunications coverage remains at a satisfactory level," according to the MCMC statement here today.
MCMC also added that it will, together with the service providers, continue to monitor the situation closely, especially the telecommunications infrastructure that is considered critical, and to ensure that telecommunications services can be fully operational in the near future.
