Scholars continue to be main reference for dealing with religious sensitivity

Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (JPM), Dr. Zulkifli Hasan

SEREMBAN, January 4 – Scholars remain a key reference point on matters concerning religious sensitivity in Malaysia.

Dr. Zulkifli Hasan, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (JPM) for Religious Affairs, expressed his deep concern on the issue and assured that all actions are being taken with great care.

He explained that there is a process that involves consulting experts, agencies, and scholars, ensuring that decisions are made thoughtfully and without haste.

"We are moving systematically, without any political intent. Our actions aim to foster religious harmony and uphold Islamic sharia in Malaysia," Dr. Zulkifli stated to reporters after officiating at the Sri Seremban School Sixth Year Appreciation Ceremony.

His comments came in response to a statement from Khairul Nadzir Helmi Azhar, the Head of Information for Pas Youth Council, who had called on religious authorities, including the Minister of Religion, to address the issue of the Christmas celebration held at the premises of Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming recently.
