SUBANG JAYA, July 25 -The government is committed and prepared to engage with players in the digital industry in an effort to strengthen the sector in Malaysia.
According to Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo, he has invited all relevant industry leaders to the ministry to provide their perspectives on shaping future digital policies.
"The experience they have gained from their ventures in the past is now is crucial for us to outline the guidelines in us moving forward. I think it's important even where we celebrate their contributions to the industry and I want them to succeed.
"But I need their help to come and meet me to discuss how we can make policies so that Malaysia can move forward on this digital journey with industry input and of course with government support," he said.
He was met by the the media after the 24th PC.COM Awards Conference yesterday.
He added this is because the built ecosystem is important not only to enable governments to know the issues related to the digital sector in the past but also to see the challenges ahead.
He also expressed confidence that he would be able to achieve the goal of a 25.5% digital economy contribution to GDP by 2025 if all parties, including citizens, utilized the platform provided by the government to expand their business.
