BUKIT KAYU HITAM, Dec 11 - The Kedah Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM) succeeded in seizing 110 kilogrammes of syabu worth RM3.52 million during an operation in Pokok Sena on December 4th.
Its director Nor Izah Abd Latiff said the operation was carried out based on intelligence that detected a suspicious multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) from Taman Bandar Sejahtera towards Jalan Kampung Tok Kun.
"The result of a vehicle inspection found four large sacks filled with Chinese tea labelled packages containing methamphetamine (syabu)," she said in a press conference here today.
The MPV driver, believed to be in his 40s, tried to escape by jumping out of the vehicle and managed to run for about 400 metres before being arrested.
The drugs are believed to be for the black market within the Klang Valley, Selangor.
The local suspect, along with the vehicle and exhibits, have been taken to the Kedah Customs Enforcement office here for further investigation.
The case is being investigated under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
