SERDANG, August 23 - The Federal Territories Mufti Department was selected as the host for the Liqa' iMahabbah Tournament, a sports event in which 14 State Mufti Departments participated in Malaysia.

According to the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr. Mohd. Na'im Mokhtar, the third tournament serves as a forum to unite all members of the Mufti Departments from each state through sports.

"Hopefully, the unity built through the Liqa' iMahabbah sports platform will foster harmony in the context of discussions among the sahibus samahah (eminent muftis). With this unity and discussion, we hope to address and resolve the problems faced by the community."

"This is because the community expects substantial legal opinions from the muftis. God willing, the unity built through the Liqa' iMahabbah platform will strengthen the institution of fatwas in Malaysia," said Dr. Na'im.

He was speaking to reporters at the opening ceremony of the Liqa' iMahabbah at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in Selangor last night.

The sports tournament, which involves nearly 600 participants, will take place at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) starting today and will conclude on August 26.

According to Dr. Na'im, organizing the Liqa' iMahabbah event also encourages officials from the Mufti Departments to make fitness activities and sports a regular part of their routines.

He explained that engaging in sports is also crucial for helping the community perform prayers better and work in the office with greater happiness and enthusiasm.
