KUALA LUMPUR, 15 March - The Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) stressed that any hotel and food premise that does not possess a Malaysian Halal Certification (SPHM) is prohibited from advertising Ramadan buffet offers.

This includes any food promotions related to the month of Ramadan.

"Advertising, including through print media, posters, banners, billboards, or social media, is also subject to these regulations," according to JAIS in a post on Saturday.

According to JAIS, the prohibition is based on the Trade Descriptions Act (APD) 2011 under the Trade Descriptions (Certification and Marking of Halal) Order.

The penalty for offenses related to halal certification is a fine of up to RM200,000, and it can reach up to RM5 million for offenses involving the definition of halal.

Members of the public who wish to lodge complaints regarding violations of these regulations can contact the JAIS Hotline at 011-55820258 / 011-55820212 or via email at Alamat emel ini dilindungi dari Spambot. Anda perlu hidupkan JavaScript untuk melihatnya..
