'Gempur Teknikal' memberships increased in conjunction with festive season

SEREMBAN, Dec 29- The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has increased its membership to 1,500 members through a special 'Gempur Teknikal' operation since 25 December.

Secretary-General of the Ministry of Transport, Datuk Jana Santhiran Muniayan, said the addition was to focus enforcement on commercial vehicle offences, especially overloading, technical, documentation, traffic and technical vehicle manufacturing and use offences.

"Previously there were less than 1,000 people, now JPJ has mobilized 1,500 people to be on the road throughout the festive season.

"It is not in conjunction with the Christmas celebration but also during the New Year celebration and continues into the Chinese New Year. It will also continue until the celebration of Hari Raya Aidilfitri," he said.

He said this to reporters in the 'Op Gempur Technical' press conference for commercial vehicles in the Rest and Treat area of ​​the north-south highway, Seremban direction here.

A total of 17,729 vehicles have been inspected since the operation was launched on December 25 until yesterday.

Of the total, 1,787 vehicles were prosecuted for various offences, 16 vehicles were confiscated and a total of 5,306 notices were issued for various offences.
