Clear the name of the country from corruption, avoid leaking tenders

Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim/BERNAMA

NEW DELHI, August 21 - Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim wants the country's name to be cleared of corruption. He explained, it needs to start by avoiding tender leaks.

"We need to clean this country from corruption, abuse of power. Every big tender, you must want to take a commission. That's not your father's money! That's the people's money!

"You have to control it. It's not easy, but you have to put it into practice. I have to give credit to my cabinet, no one questioned issues related to the tender", he said.

Datuk Seri Anwar also admitted that the country's name is tainted with bad practices of corruption, following the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) issue and that perception needs to be changed.

He said this while speaking at the Friendly Meeting with the Malaysian diaspora at the Malaysian High Commissioner's Consulate, New Delhi.

More than 200 diplomatic officers, businessmen and students attended the event.
