Blood donations increase during Ramadan

The organization of 17 blood donation campaigns throughout Ramadan was carried out by various government agencies, private sectors, and non-governmental organizations or through walk-in donations at the Transfusion Medicine Department, Hospital Tuanku Fauziah

KANGAR, March 22- A total of 819 blood packs were donated by both active and new donors from March 2 to 21 through 17 Blood Donation Campaigns held throughout Ramadan.

Dr. Mohd Siddqi Abidin, Medical Officer at the Transfusion Medicine Department, stated that the blood supply at Tuanku Fauziah Hospital is currently at a safe level for all types of blood.

However, the Transfusion Medicine Department is continuously preparing for the Aidilfitri festive season to ensure an ongoing increase in blood supply.

"Having sufficient and safe blood supplies is crucial due to various emergency situations faced by Tuanku Fauziah Hospital, particularly accidents that require blood transfusions," Dr. Siddqi explained.

He also shared that the Be A Hero Blood Donation Program, organized by the Kangar UMNO Division at the Transfusion Medicine Department, successfully collected 36 blood packs.

Meanwhile, Kangar UMNO Division Chief Datuk Dr. Fathul Bari Mat Jahya has set a target of over 600 blood packs for this year’s Be A Hero Blood Donation Program.

This target is based on the 507 packs collected during last year’s program.

The initiative aims to promote continuous social responsibility within the community, contributing to the blood supply at the Transfusion Medicine Department of Tuanku Fauziah Hospital.
