Air Unit of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) plans to conquer Everest

Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the world with a height of 8,848 meters above sea level

KUALA LUMPUR, August 14 - PASKUB, the Air Unit of the Malaysian Fire And Rescue Department (JBPM), aims to conquer the world's highest peak, mount Everest, through its Climbing Project, ‘Mencari Hati Emas’ 2025.

Senior Fire Officer II, Mohd. Fakhrul Munir Mohd. Isa said this project, which has been in the works for several years, aims to raise funds to assist less fortunate firefighters.

He also intends to take the fire department to the summit of Everest, hence, proving Malaysia's uniformed bodies are on par with those in other developed countries.

“The project to climb to the top of the mountain 8,848 metres above sea level is my own inspiration following my solo cycling project of 2,400 kilometres and visits to 105 fire and rescue stations in Peninsular Malaysia in 2020.

“This project is organised by Kelab Kembara Kosmopolitan in collaboration with Summit Attack Resources (SAR) to raise funds for the Firefighters' Welfare Fund.

“The project, which has the full support and approval of JBPM, aims to assist those who are injured or killed while on duty or who are still in service," he said in a statement today.

Fakhrul said the Everest mission would not solicit donations from the Malaysian public or use government funds.

Instead, it will raise funds through the charity sale of special edition one-kilogram fire extinguishers along with combo items (exclusive T-shirts and durable hats).

The fire extinguisher can be purchased for RM139 each, while the exclusive T-shirt (RM59) and hat (RM39) can be purchased individually or as a combo for all three items for RM199. Purchases can be made at https://twh.yezza.store/.

He said the main objective of the charity sale is to educate the public about the importance of being aware and prepared with fire extinguishers.
