ALOR SETAR, March 28 - A total of 60 members of the Kedah Malaysia Civil Defence Force (APM) will be assigned during Op Prihatin 2025 which begins today, in conjunction with the Aidilfitri celebration.
Op Prihatin, which will be held until April 6th, is to assist federal and state road users who experience emergencies when returning home for Eid and going back to their respective homes after the festive holidays.
The Director of the Malaysia Civil Defence Force (APM) Kedah, Lieutenant Colonel (PA) Zairil Anuar Zulmuji, said that throughout the operation, APM personnel will also patrol crowded locations such as resorts, shopping malls, and houses of worship.
He said that the assignment will be divided into three time periods, according to shifts that have been set to ensure a smooth operation.
"Four officers per shift will patrol from morning to night. So during this patrol we will report cases involving emergencies, road accidents, and other cases such as fallen trees, injuries, vehicle breakdowns and other humanitarian services," Zairil Anuar told reporters, here.
He said that apart from monitoring on the ground, his side will also use the services of the APM Drone Unit to conduct monitoring from the air. The aerial monitoring will be concentrated in 428 disaster 'hotspot' areas.
