Two families who are victims of the gas pipeline fire in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya today received their residence keys and moved into temporary accommodation at Pangsapuri Seri Suria, Kota Warisan, Sepang

SEPANG, April 16 - Two families who are victims of the gas pipeline fire in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya today received their residence keys and moved into temporary accommodation at Pangsapuri Seri Suria, Kota Warisan, Sepang.

The key handover session for accommodation offered by the Selangor state government was officiated by Selangor Housing Exco, Datuk Borhan Aman Shah at the apartment compound.

According to Borhan, to date, a total of 75 applications for temporary housing assistance have been received from residents affected by the incident.

"I hope this (home) will be able to provide further assistance, apart from the scheme where the government gives RM2,000 in assistance for six months. So if they rent for RM850, there is a surplus, perhaps which can go towards paying for electricity, water, transportation and so on. This can ease the burden of the affected residents from Putra Heights a little," he told reporters here.

A total of 100 units of Seri Suria Apartments are being offered by the Selangor Housing and Property Board to the affected residents.

However, the state government will check with the district office to ensure that only registered victims receive assistance.

Meanwhile, the rental rate is set at RM850 per month compared to the actual rate of RM1,200 and a deposit exemption is also given to affected residents registered for temporary housing assistance.

Through the handover of these SMART rental keys, it is hoped that residents affected by the incident are able to open a new chapter in their lives after this.

One of the residents affected by the gas pipeline fire, Abu Samah Rahmat, said with the assistance, he is able to heave a sigh of relief and it also makes it easier to get to work.

"The feeling is certainly happy. The provision of this house makes things easier. This location is also close to the workplace," he said.

For Muhammad Ridzuwan Salehhudin, the house aid gave him enormous relief.

"I am satisfied because this house is big. It is quite difficult to find a house of this size. So I'm thankful to God," he said.

The house has an area of 1,000 square feet, with three rooms and two bathrooms complete with fans and lights, as well as two parking lots.
