TAPAH, April 27 - The significant majority obtained by Barisan Nasional (BN) in the Ayer Kuning State Legislative Assembly By-election is a clear evidence of voters' support for the stability agenda brought by the Unity Government.

Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said it sent a clear signal that the local residents rejected the politics of slander.

"This is a good thing because it has illustrated how these Ayer Kuning voters love peace, do not like provocation, do not like to pick fights and they reject anyone who makes slander.

"That is why, I mentioned in the interview that day, those from outside, they like to run their mouths, they have caused chaos within the Ayer Kuning voting community," said Saarani.

He said this to reporters after the official announcement of the Ayer Kuning by-election results at Dewan Merdeka, here.

He added that the victory would not have been achieved without the hard work of all parties, including the BN and Pakatan Harapan machinery who worked hard throughout the campaign period.

Saarani also remains committed to helping the new Ayer Kuning elected representative, Dr Mohamad Yusri Bakir, to serve the residents of his area.

Meanwhile, Mohamad Yusri wants to realise his election manifesto and promise to help the people as well as develop Ayer Kuning.

"God willing, what we offer and are determined to offer in the manifesto, we will work on it until it reaches a good level for the comfort and well-being of the residents in the area, especially this Ayer Kuning state constituency," said Yusri.

BN successfully defended the Ayer Kuning state seat when its candidate, Dr Mohamad Yusri Bakir, won with a majority of 5,006 votes in a three-cornered contest.

He secured 11,065 votes to defeat Abd Muhaimin Malek from Perikatan Nasional who obtained 6,059 votes and Parti Sosialis Malaysia candidate Bawani KS with 1,106 votes.
