KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 29- Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) Malaysia has voiced its opposition to Germany's complicity with the Gaza genocide.
Its chairman, Nazari Ismail cited Germany's explicit declarations of support and continued weapons supply to Israel. He said this when contacted by RTM in Kuala Lumpur.
He highlighted UN Special Rapporteur on Palestine, Francesca Albanese' warning that if Germany has indeed chosen to align itself with a state committing international crimes it is a political decision that carries significant legal consequences.
According to him, Albanese' report dated July 1st 2024 entitled "Anatomy of a Genocide", recommends that UN member states immediately implement an arms embargo on Israel as it appears to have failed to comply with the binding measures ordered by the International Court of Justice on January 26th this year.
In addition to other economic and political measures necessary to ensure an immediate and lasting ceasefire and to restore respect for international law, including sanctions.
"It is glaringly clear therefore that Germany not only ignores the recommendation by Albanese, it has a deliberate policy that runs counter to it --- no sanctions on arms supply to Israel despite mounting evidence that those weapons are enabling countless war crimes," Nazari said in Kuala Lumpur.
