KUCHING, Feb 13– The National Welfare Foundation (YKN) has donated RM300,000 to the Sarawak State government to support residents affected by recent floods in the state.
Minister of Women, Family, and Community Development and YKN Chairperson Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, expressed that the contribution symbolizes solidarity and support for both the state government and the affected communities.
She acknowledged that while the amount is insufficient to address all the needs, directing it through the Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) will ensure that it is distributed in an organized and effective manner.
"Although RM300,000 may not be enough, SDMC understands the necessary actions, and this amount can still provide vital assistance, particularly to the worst-hit areas such as Bintulu and Miri," she stated.
Datuk Seri Nancy made these remarks during a press conference following the Sarawak Flood Disaster Assistance 2025 handover ceremony at Wisma Bapa Malaysia, Kuching.
Additionally, she announced that similar support would be extended to flood victims in Sabah next week.
YKN is also encouraging contributions from corporations and individuals to help strengthen efforts in supporting disaster-stricken communities.
