KUALA LUMPUR, April 15 - Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) continues to excel as the country's leading educational institution after it recorded a graduate employability rate (GE) of 97 percent for 2024.
UPSI Vice-Chancellor, Professor Datuk Dr. Md Amin Md Taff said it was the university's highest achievement in five years.
"According to official data from the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) through the Graduate Tracking Study System (SKPG), the employment rate of UPSI graduates also reached 97.4 percent, reflecting the effectiveness of the university's approach in producing graduates who are competitive and relevant to current industry needs.
"The employability rate of UPSI graduates in 2023 is 95.3 percent, and the increase of 1.7 percent in the following year clearly demonstrates the positive trend and the university's continued commitment to improving its quality of graduates," said Md Amin in a statement.
The increase surpasses the national rate, thus demonstrating UPSI's commitment to strengthening its industry-centric approach.
Apart from that, the university is in an effort to ensure a balance between theory and practice in each study programme being offered.
This outstanding achievement is the result of the collective efforts of all UPSI staff who are constantly innovating to implement dynamic curricula, expand strategic collaborative networks with the industry, and strengthen soft skills among students.
"This high employability rate and employment rate clearly show that UPSI graduates not only have a strong academic foundation, but are also equipped with practical skills and high professional values, in line with the needs of the current job market," he said.
At the same time, the university will continue to strengthen its role as a leader in the field of education by focusing on holistic student development, high-quality research, and sustainable community engagement.
This achievement therefore strengthens UPSI's position as a top choice for students to build their careers in education as well as various other sectors that require highly skilled workforce.
