Press conference for the launch of the Prasarana TVET Programme

PETALING JAYA, April 23- Prasarana Malaysia Berhad has announced plans to train 1,000 individuals under its newly introduced “Prasarana TVET Programme,” which is set to commence in the fourth quarter of this year.

According to Prasarana Group President and Chief Executive Officer, Mohd Azharuddin Mat Sah, the nine-month programme is designed to build a highly skilled workforce, with a particular emphasis on the rail and bus transport sectors.

“Among the courses offered are electric bus operation, rolling stock maintenance, and cyber security. Participants who complete the programme will be awarded the Malaysian Skills Certificate (SKM), which is a nationally recognised qualification,” he said during the press conference for the launch of the Prasarana TVET Programme.

The programme is specifically targeted at school leavers, students from vocational institutions, diploma holders, and university graduates. It is tailored to meet the current needs of the transport industry, while also aligning with Malaysia’s broader aspirations to enhance Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

This initiative directly supports the objectives of the National TVET Policy 2030, which aims to cultivate a skilled, high-income workforce that can contribute to the country’s socioeconomic growth.

In conjunction with the launch of this programme, Prasarana also announced a strategic partnership with Hitachi Rail. This collaboration is intended to expand and strengthen the implementation of TVET programmes across Malaysia, particularly within the public transportation sector.

During the same event, Prasarana also launched the Hitachi Protege Program, involving the participation of 28 individuals. This programme offers participants the opportunity to engage directly with senior leadership from Hitachi and gain valuable insights into the industry.

As part of the initiative, the participants also took part in a study tour that included visits to the rail operations control centre and the maintenance depot, allowing them to observe real-world operations and practices.
