KUALA LUMPUR, September 5 -The government is committed to dealing with cybercrime cases that are becoming increasingly worrying in this country.

Due to this reason, the Online Safety Bill related to the danger of online crime is expected to be presented in Parliament this October.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the matter would be refined by the attorney general's office before being tabled to the cabinet.

"In this regard, we are very concerned about victims of bullying, victims of scams and of course this act will look at some aspects in terms of crimes that may not happen now but there are certain things that we project may happen in the coming decades.

"I congratulate Datuk Seri Azalina for her initiative, who is at the forefront of ensuring that this new act is enacted for the benefit of all Malaysians, covering all walks of life," he said.

He said this after attending the International Legal Conference on Online Harms 2024 here today.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said and the Spanish Ambassador to Malaysia Jose Luis Pardo were also present.

Previously, Berita RTM reported that influencer A. Rajeswary, also known as Esha, was found dead in a condominium unit in Setapak on July 5.

The victim reportedly died a day after making a police report regarding the cyber bullying she faced.
