KUALA LUMPUR, March 12- The Ministry of Education plans to build new schools and additional buildings in phases over the next five years to standardise schooling sessions into a one-session system.
It is expected to increase applications for related projects in the Five-Year Malaysia Plan (RMLT).
Its Deputy Minister Wong Kah Woh said, among other things, this plan aims to overcome the issue of student density in most schools.
"During RP1 to RP5 of the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP), a total of 103 new school construction projects were approved, with a focus on high-density areas.
"In addition, a total of 261 schools were approved for additional building projects to accommodate the increasing number of students", he said during the Dewan Negara session.
The Ministry of Education has also taken steps such as changing the function of special rooms to classrooms, apart from introducing the construction of classrooms in the form of cabins using Industrial Building System (IBS) technology and implementing the distribution of student placements according to residential addresses.
