KANGAR, April 30 - Community tourism in Perlis will be further strengthened to diversify products that are expected to boost the local economy, especially in promoting the Visit Malaysia Year (TMM2026).
The State Tourism Exco, Abu Bakar Hamzah, stated that during TMM2026, the main focus will be on eco-tourism, customs, arts and culture, traditions, and food for tourists from both domestic and international backgrounds.
He mentioned that various new tourism locations will be highlighted in Perlis for TMM2026, including the Banjaran Nakawan area, which features over 1,000 caves that can be explored, starting from Wang Gunung in Bintong to Kampung Wai, Kuala Perlis.
"We will reorganize the planning for Visit Malaysia Year in Perlis with the state government to distribute or inform the schedule for Visit Malaysia Year early for the campaign in Perlis. We hope that with this campaign, Perlis will also become an important destination not only for domestic tourists but also for international tourists," said Abu Bakar.
He made this announcement at the Launch of the Engagement Session with the Tourism Industry Players of Perlis 2025 at the Perlis State Assembly Complex, organized by Tourism Malaysia as part of efforts to strengthen strategic cooperation to succeed in the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 campaign.
The event was attended by over 150 tourism industry players in Perlis, including representatives from government agencies, tourism associations, airlines, hotel operators, tourism product operators, and travel agents, serving as a platform for sharing and discussing strategic plans to succeed in the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 campaign.
