Adly Zahari

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 2- All Palestinians brought to Malaysia for medical treatment will be sent back to Palestine once a ceasefire is successfully achieved and their homeland is secure.

Deputy defence minister, Adly Zahari said matters related to documentation, such as passports, are being handled and are expected to be completed by mid-December.

This matter is being facilitated between the Palestinian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur and the Palestinian authorities.

"The Defence Ministry is also collaborating with the Home Ministry on the issuance of Long-Term Social Visit Passes for the Palestinians to provide legal documentation during their stay in Malaysia until they can return to their homeland," he said.

"This initiative mirrors the humanitarian programmes previously implemented for Syrians, Sudanese, and Yemenis by the Malaysian government," he added.

He was replying to a question from Senator Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz in the Dewan Negara regarding the current status of Palestinians brought from Egypt to access healthcare services.

On 16 August, 41 Palestinian patients and 86 accompanying family members were brought to Malaysia for medical treatment at the Tuanku Mizan Armed Forces Hospital.

40 patients have completed their treatment and have been relocated to Wisma Transit in Kuala Lumpur for temporary accommodation with their families while, one patient continues dialysis treatment at the hospital.
