Op Letrik Bitcoin: 24 machines seized, one individual arrested

KUALA TERENGGANU, February 25- A bitcoin mine worker was arrested by the police after he was believed to be involved in illegal electricity theft during the Op Letrik Bitcoin at a premises in the Kuala Nerus district, on Monday.

Kuala Terengganu District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Azli Mohd Noor said the 53-year-old suspect was arrested in a raid at 10.45 pm as a result of surveillance and intelligence on electricity theft activities.

His team with the help Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) auxiliary police raided the premises and managed to arrest a man who claimed to be the owner of the premises.

The police managed to confiscate 24 bitcoin mining machines and a mobile phone worth RM15,600.

The suspect and the case items were then taken to the Kuala Terengganu District Police Headquarters for further action.

The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code, Section 427 of the Criminal Code and Section 37 of the Electricity Supply Act 1990.
