KESUMA ready to review minimum wage order periodically

KUALA LUMPUR, 25 February- The Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA), through the National Salary Consultation Council and related agencies, is ready to review the salary order periodically to ensure an increase in the minimum wage in the future.

Its Deputy Minister, Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad said, the study will be conducted at least once in two years.

It is in line with the requirements of the National Wage Consultation Council Act 2011 (Act 732).

"This research process involves researching current economic indicators taking into account basic indicators such as the poverty line opinion and median salary as well as coordinating indicators such as labor productivity, the unemployment rate and the consumer price index," he said.

He said when answering a question from Pasir Gudang Member of Parliament, Hassan Abdul Karim in the Dewan Rakyat here.

Abdul Rahman added that an engagement session with stakeholders among employee representatives, employers and other stakeholders will also be held to gather views and feedback on the increase in employee wages.
