KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 7- Internet messaging services and social media platforms that fail to register for licensing after Jan 1 next year will not be blocked.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil, said the licensing requirement aims to ensure service providers are accountable.

In addition to playing an important role in creating a safer online environment for platform users.

He said that users would still be able to access and use the platforms after the regulation takes into effect.

He said this in replying to a supplementary question from Tasek Gelugor MP Datuk Wan Saifulruddin Wan Jan during the question and answer session in the Dewan Rakyat today.
