MELAKA, Nov 1– All tourism infrastructure in Melaka is being upgraded in conjunction with next year’s World Tourism Day (WTD) and World Tourism Conference (WTC).

Melaka Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, stated that this is part of efforts to position Melaka as a world-class tourism destination.

According to Ab Rauf, improvements will focus on areas under the administration of the four Local Authorities (PBT).

“We will also focus on specific PBT areas to attract more domestic tourists to enjoy the natural beauty within the state.

“In the Alor Gajah PBT area, we will enhance eco-tourism quality at Paya Lebar and further improve river cruise services in Jasin.

“We are also upgrading Chinchin Extreme Park to become a world-class Chinchin Glamping and Caravan Park,” he said to reporters after the Puncak Laksamana inauguration ceremony at Bukit Beruang here today.

He added that attention will also be given to tourist spots under the administration of the Melaka Historic City Council and Hang Tuah Jaya Municipal Council.
