SUNGAI BULOH, February 8– Highway users have generally welcomed the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM)'s initiative to extend the ban on heavy vehicle movement during peak hours on highways.
The ban is seen as a positive step towards enhancing safety and alleviating traffic congestion.
"If an accident involving a heavy vehicle happens, the cleanup process can be quite complicated as it requires additional machinery. It also causes traffic jams, impacting other highway users. This initiative is a good thing," said highway user, Muhammad Firdaus Mohd Fuzi.
"I fully support this measure. It could help reduce accidents on the highway," added highway user, Mohd Hasrul Hamdan.
"The initiative is good, but it would be even better if the police and the Road Transport Department (JPJ) could monitor it more closely to ensure smooth implementation during peak hours," said Nur Ainna Amira Malek, another highway user.
"As a road user, my hope is that the accident rate will decrease, and our journeys will be smoother and safer," said highway user, Nur Adriana Amira Mohd Ridzuan.
