Government machinery must be ready to face global economic uncertainties

KUCHING, 19 April - The entire government machinery, at both the Federal and State levels, needs to be fully prepared to face global economic uncertainties, following the tariff announcement by the United States.

This matter was emphasized by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, while chairing the Sarawak Special Development Meeting at Wisma Bapa Malaysia, here, today.

"All planning must be swiftly translated into action to strengthen the nation's internal economic resilience against any external shocks or actions that disrupt our sustainability," he said in a Facebook post.

The meeting also discussed the Sarawak Gas Roadmap and tax incentives by the Sarawak Development Bank, which have the potential to strengthen the state's economy and generate benefits for the people of Sarawak and Malaysia as a whole.

The meeting also reviewed the direction and priorities of development projects in Sarawak to ensure alignment with the Federal government’s plans.

Also present were Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Dr Abang Johari Tun Openg, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Sri Fadillah Yusof, as well federal and state government leaders.

"May this collective effort continue to foster prosperity and well-being for all citizens of the Land of the Hornbills," Anwar added.
