PASIR MAS, December 22 - As many as 150,000 manuscripts of the Quran that were damaged from floods in several states recently, will be collected for disposal in accordance with the Sharia.
The Secretary of the Enforcement and Control Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN), Nik Yusaimi Yussof said so far his party has collected a total of 55,000 copies of the Quran from several districts involving three affected states; namely Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah.
"In Kelantan alone, we have collected up to today, as much as 12.5 tons or the equivalent of 25,000 manuscripts that were affected by the flood and it is believed that there are still many more Al-Qurans that will be handed over to the collection center", he said at the Let's Exchange Al-Quran (JEQ) and Solidarity Programme for flood victims at Taman Maka Utama Mosque, here.
Nik Yusaimi added that his division has created a Quran collection center at the main mosque of each flood-affected district in order to make it easier for residents to send the holy book before it is replaced with a new one.
The public is called upon to take the opportunity to exchange their flood-damaged Quran manuscripts which will be disposed of through the KDN JEQ programme.
