2,000 underprivileged children in Perlis receive RM400,000 through PEKA Simpanan SSPN

The Permata Kasih (PEKA) National Education Savings Scheme (SSPN Savings) Program to open SSPN Prime Savings accounts

KANGAR, 29 April - A contribution of RM400,000 has been channeled through the Permata Kasih (PEKA) National Education Savings Scheme (SSPN Savings) Program to open SSPN Prime Savings accounts for 2,000 newly born underprivileged children in Perlis.

Eligible recipients will be identified and will receive RM200 in savings as an initial boost for their future education.

The Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, expressed his appreciation for the continuous efforts of the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) for their implementation of high-impact programs in developing the underprivileged group.

The Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs), in collaboration with the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN), has implemented the Permata Kasih (PEKA) SSPN Savings Program starting from 1 April.

"MAIPs not only act as administrator of Islamic religious affairs, but also function as a catalyst for the development of the Islamic community, especially in helping the asnaf group break free from the cycle of poverty,"

The Ruler said this when officiating the Launching Ceremony of the SSPN Savings Program (PEKA) for New Births of Asnaf Children in Perlis.

Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail also expressed his congratulations and well-wishes on the implementation of the incentive which proves the concern of MAIPs and PTPTN in ensuring that asnaf children are equipped with education savings to produce a financially literate generation.

Also present at the ceremony was the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail who is also the Yang DiPertua of MAIPs.
