133 officers, personnel join 91st RMN Day parade

KUALA LUMPUR, April 27 – A total of 133 officers and personnel participated in the 91st Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) Day Parade at the Klang Valley level which was held with pomp and splendour at the KD Sri Gombak Parade Ground, today.

A spokesperson for the Strategic Communications Division of the Kuala Lumpur Naval Headquarters said the parade ceremony, which began at 8.00 am, was officiated by the Deputy Inspector General of the Naval Headquarters, First Admiral Rosli Abd Ghani, as the Officer Receiving the Salute.

He also delivered the 91st RMN Day Speech on behalf of the Navy Commander.

“The parade was led by Commander Harulizam Haron as the Parade Commander, assisted by Warrant Officer I PRL Mohd Harmizie Mohd Fawzli as the Parade Warrant Officer.

"A total of six platoons, consisting of 28 officers and 105 members of other ranks, participated in this parade," he said in a statement.

Meanwhile, his party also expressed its appreciation to the First Battalion Band of the Royal Malay Regiment who also made the parade a success.

According to him, apart from the parade which was celebrated simultaneously at all RMN headquarters, formations and units nationwide, this year's celebration also strengthened spiritual values ​​through the implementation of the Yasin Recitation Ceremony, Doa Selamat and the Special Friday Sermon.

"There were done in honour of the fallen heroes and heroines of the RMN, including holding a tahlil ceremony to commemorate the heroes who perished in the helicopter crash incident last year.

"The RMN remains committed to safeguarding the sovereignty of our beloved country's waters through the development and modernisation of assets, continuous expert training and always being prepared to face current threats with regional cooperation," he said.

This annual ceremony is held to celebrate the establishment of the RMN on 27 April 1934, which is celebrated as a symbol of loyalty, readiness and commitment of the RMN in defending the country's maritime sovereignty, in line with the theme 'TLDM Perkasa, Kedaulatan Terpelihara'.

This celebration is also in appreciation of the contributions by veterans and 'Navy People' who have been the backbone of the RMN's excellence throughout its 91 years of establishment.
