1,089 flood-affected families in Johor not registered with PPS, receive special assistance

Johor Menteri Besar, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi

JOHOR BAHRU, April 18- A total of 1,089 flood-affected families in Johor who are not registered at the temporary relief centre (PPS) will still receive Special Financial Assistance of RM3,000, for each head of household.

According to Johor Menteri Besar, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, the second series of special assistance was channelled in conjunction with the fifth wave of the Northeast Monsoon floods, involving a total allocation of RM3.26 million.

He said that although the appeal period is still open, the state government is taking proactive steps by distributing assistance in stages starting yesterday.

The measure was taken to ensure that flood-affected residents receive immediate assistance without having to wait for the appeal period to fully expire.

The second round of aid is the result of a collaboration between the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA), the Johor Islamic Religious Council (MAINJ), local authorities (PBT), and the Johor Housing Development Corporation (PKPJ).

The first phase of aid was distributed on March 27th, involving recipients registered with the PPS. Meanwhile, payments for the third phase are scheduled to be made in May, after the appeal period ends at the end of this month.
