KUALA LUMPUR, March 15 - Organizations in the country need to utilize local experts to prevent them from migrating abroad, thus reducing dependence on external experts.
Dean of the Graduate School of Business, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Professor Dr. Zafir Khan Mohamed Makhbul said that this was also driven by the offer of decent salaries and better benefits.
"We call it 'brain game', which should be given priority compared to existing talent in operations. This adds to the frustration of the individuals involved.
"Actually, these individuals are more involved in external organizations because external organizations are more aware of the talent they possess.
"They also look at income or more attractive benefits to upgrade their lives," he said.
He said this to reporters after being a guest on the Selamat Pagi Malaysia programme at Angkasapuri Kota Media.
In addition, according to Zafir Khan Mohamed Makhbul, there are organizations that prioritize foreign talent over local ones.
The cause of the migration of local workers is also driven by unstructured career paths and frequent changes in terms and conditions of employment.
In addition, uncertainty in promotions and career development opportunities makes the local experts believe that there is no guarantee of a future for them.
