SHAH ALAM, March 16- The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, attended the Sultan of Selangor's Breaking Fast Ceremony with the People at the Tengku Ampuan Jemaah Mosque, Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam, on Saturday.
His arrival was accompanied by the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, at 6:30 PM and was welcomed by the Menteri Besar Selangor, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
During the event, Sultan Sharafuddin presented Hari Raya contributions totaling RM239,000 to 478 asnaf from the Petaling district.
A total of 139 poor, 212 needy, and 127 converts received contributions of RM500 each.
This year marks the highest number of recipients among converts compared to previous years.
The Sultan also graciously accepted business zakat from seven companies, namely Pintas Utama Sdn Bhd (RM3 million), Rafulin Holdings Sdn Bhd (RM2.15 million), Sime Darby Property Berhad (RM2 million), KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd (RM1.17 million), MAHSA University (RM1.32 million), Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (RM1 million), and Kumpulan Semesta Sdn Bhd (RM1 million).
Sultan Sharafuddin then broke his fast and performed the obligatory Maghrib prayer, followed by the Isyak prayer and 20 rakaat of Tarawih prayer with the attending community.
