SIBU, 31 March- Director of Sabah State Courts, Marutin Pagan, 56, died in a road accident involving two vehicles at the Kanowit/Durin Roundabout near here, yesterday.

Sibu District Police Chief Zulkipli Suhaili, contacted via WhatsApp at midnight last night, confirmed the matter. The accident occurred at approximately 1.59 pm on Sunday.

Zulkipli said a Toyota Fortuner driven by a 28-year-old woman overturned, causing Marutin to be thrown out before being confirmed dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the deceased's younger sibling, Maria Pagan, said in a Facebook post that Marutin was on his way home from Machan in Kanowit heading towards Sibu.

Prior to holding the position of Director of the Sabah State Court, Marutin had served as a Sessions Court Judge in Bintulu, Sibu and Kuching.
