KOTA BHARU, April 13- The Road Transport Department (JPJ) opened a special counter for four days until April 6 to assist victims of the gas fire in Putra Heights, Selangor, in recovering their lost documents.

Its Director-General, Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli, stated that 221 affected residents have registered for the free service offered.

Aedy mentioned that victims who have not yet had the opportunity can still obtain document replacements at any nearby JPJ office.

"They only need to visit any nearest JPJ office, and we will provide document replacements for free without requiring a police report. It is sufficient to present their name, identity card number, and address, and the JPJ will verify the information before issuing the replacement documents," he said.

He made these remarks when met by the media at the JPJ Kelantan Aidilfitri Celebration event today, which was also attended by the State JPJ Director, Mohd Misuari Abdullah.

Furthermore, he noted that most applications involve the replacement of Motor Vehicle Licences (LKM) and Driving Licences.

In other developments, he reported that operations during the Aidilfitri celebration from March 24 to April 8 successfully reduced road fatalities.

He stated that JPJ will continue to improve measures and preventive actions to ensure future operations are more effective.
