SUBANG JAYA, April 7 – A total of 76 students affected by the gas pipeline fire incident in Jalan Putra Harmoni, Putra Heights began their school session today by riding a special transport service provided by Yayasan Islam Darul Ehsan (YIDE) in collaboration with several other agencies.
Of the total, 42 primary school students and 34 secondary school students from 19 schools benefited from the initiative.
They are currently temporarily staying at the Putra Heights Mosque Temporary Evacuation Centre (PPS) and Camelia Hall.
According to YIDE General Manager, Nur Mohd Razali Abdullah, a total of eight special vehicles have been provided – five for the morning session and three for the afternoon session – to ensure that the students can continue their schooling as usual, without disruption.
“A total of 60 students attended the morning session and 16 students will attend the afternoon session, with a travel distance of around seven kilometres from the PPS to their respective schools,” he said.
Apart from YIDE, the coordination of transportation also involves the collaboration of agencies such as the Petaling Perdana District Education Office, the Social Welfare Department, Prasarana Sdn Bhd and the Selangor Volunteer Team.
The service is expected to continue until the situation is fully restored to ensure the welfare and access to education of the affected students continues to be maintained.
