PUTRAJAYA, April 7 – Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim reminded all parties including civil servants to handle every issue in the country wisely and relevantly to prevent it from being exploited by irresponsible parties.
According to him, every problem that arises needs to be handled prudently, while issues played on social media should not be sensationalized for certain interests.
“Sometimes we are too carried away by social media or the media because they like sensationalism. Small matters that we can handle well are made big, as if a war is about to happen – the issue of war temples, the issue of war balloons – when we can handle them well. That is why I would like to recommend that we do not give them space,” he said.
He said this when speaking at the Prime Minister’s Monthly Gathering with the Prime Minister’s Department (JPM) staff here today.
Also present were Deputy Prime Ministers Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof; Chief Secretary to the Government Datuk Seri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar; and Director-General of the Public Service Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz.
Anwar also stressed the importance of close cooperation between all government departments and agencies in maintaining national stability and ensuring that all issues that arise are not magnified to the point of causing public unrest.
