PUTRAJAYA, April 11– The investigation into the gas leak incident in Putra Heights is being actively conducted by a team of fire investigation officers from the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), who are currently still at the scene of the incident.
JBPM Director-General, Datuk Nor Hisham Mohammad said the five-member team is collecting data and identifying further approaches to conduct a comprehensive study, in collaboration with the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) and other technical agencies.
"The main collaboration is with DOSH. Once complete information is obtained, we will sit together and compile all the findings related to this incident. At the same time, we will also look at comparisons with best practices from around the world to formulate improvement proposals for Petronas," he said.
He said this in a press conference after the Letter of Acceptance (SST) Presentation Ceremony for the JBPM supply tender with the supplier company CLW Special Automobile (M) Sdn. Bhd. held at the JBPM Headquarters, Precinct 7 here.
Nor Hisham also informed that the final report of the incident would be used as a basis to propose new safety measures and improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) regarding the management of flammable materials in the future.
