KUCHING, April 19 – Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today attended a special meeting and briefing on Sarawak state development in conjunction with his one-day working visit to the state.
The meeting was held at Wisma Bapa Malaysia, Petra Jaya and was attended by Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg as well as deputy premiers, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian.
The Prime Minister's arrival at 10.40 am was greeted by Sarawak State Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki and the state cabinet.
The meeting with the state leadership lasted for about an hour and also included a development briefing delivered by the Sarawak Premier.
The briefing touched on the direction of the state's development including the implementation of various strategic initiatives and future infrastructure projects.
One of its main focuses is the Prime Minister's visit to the exhibition of the Tanjung Embang Deep Sea Port construction plan, which is designed based on the concept of the Kobe Port model in Japan.
After the meeting, the Prime Minister is scheduled to attend the 2025 MADANI Aidilfitri Reception Ceremony at the Kuching's Stadium Perpaduan as well as the Reception Ceremony of the Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, with the target group at Wisma Sabati, Petra Jaya.
