PM arrives in New Delhi for official visit

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim arrived in India for a three day visit/PMO photo

NEW DELHI, August 20 - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim arrived in India for a three day visit.

A special aircraft carrying him landed at Palam Air Force Station, New Delhi at 9.47pm local time last night (12.15am Malaysia time).

Upon arrival, he was greeted by India’s Minister of State for Railways, V.Somanna, Malaysian High Commissioner to India, Datuk Muzafar Shah Mustafa and Indian High Commissioner to Malaysia, B.N Reddy.

A traditional Indian dance performance was also held to welcome the Prime Minister.

Accompanying the Prime Minister are Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, Minister of Digital Gobind Singh Deo, and Minister of Human Resources Steven Sim.

The Prime Minister will meet with Indian President Droupadi Murmu, followed by a bilateral meeting with his counterpart Narendra Modi on Tuesday.

India is Malaysia’s 12th largest trading partner.
