KUALA LUMPUR, March 7- Patients are advised to discuss with their doctors or pharmacists regarding medication intake during this Ramadan.
This recommendation from Nadiatul Nabilah Sani, a Pharmacy Officer from the Ministry of Health Malaysia, is directed to patients who need to take medication according to a prescribed schedule.
Patients can seek guidance from pharmacists if there is any confusion in planning their medication intake throughout Ramadan.
"Medications that do not invalidate fasting include eye drops, nasal drops, and ear drops, as well as sublingual tablets that are placed under the tongue.
"Additionally, there are also injectable medications, whether injected through the skin, muscle, joint, or blood vessel, that do not invalidate fasting.
"Furthermore, topical medications such as creams, ointments, and patches also do not invalidate fasting as they are only applied to the skin's surface.
"Moreover, nasal sprays do not invalidate fasting," she stated while being a guest on a program produced by RTM here.
