JOHOR BAHRU, 7 January - 20 individuals, including five drivers who were found to be driving while intoxicated, were arrested by Johor police during Ops Khas from 3 to 5 January.

Johor Police Chief, Datuk M. Kumar said the operation also saw 467 summonses issued against offenders who ignored red traffic lights.

Action was taken under Section 79(2) of the Road Transport Act 1987 which provides for fines ranging from RM300 to RM2,000.

48 vehicles were also seized while 1,271 additional summonses were issued for various other offences.

He said all arrests and seizures are now being investigated under Section 45A(1), Section 42(1), and Section 64 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
