KUCHING, December 14 - The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has as of yesterday inspected 828,358 vehicles nationwide in the Op Khas Motosikal which began on November 1.
Senior Director of Law Enforcement, JPJ Malaysia, Muhammad Kifli Ma Hassan said that of the total, 400,352 were motorcycle pillion riders.
He said the special operation also saw action taken against 55,857 motorcycles for various offences and 2,665 motorcycles were seized.
According to Muhammad Kifli, throughout the operation, his department, in collaboration with the National Anti-Drug Agency, had also arrested 65 drivers who tested positive for drugs.
"The JPJ takes this matter seriously because when road users are under the influence of drugs, the likelihood of thembeing involved in a road accident is very high," he said when met by reporters during the Sarawak JPJ Op Khas Motosikal at Jalan Tun Datuk Patinggi Haji Abdul Rahman Yaakub, here.
