PAPAR 3 May - The need to increase Community Colleges, especially in the interior districts of Sabah and Sarawak, including considering the provision of additional facilities such as dormitories, will be examined by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE).
Its Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, said that his party has seen the need to consider the matter after visiting Beaufort Community College in February.
“We will look at the needs related to it. As I have mentioned earlier, when I visited Beaufort Community College to see its needs, we realised that there is a need to provide a more complete set of facilities in Sabah.
“This includes in terms of dormitories, even though in terms of Community College policy there are no dormitories provided.
"However, in the context of Sabah and Sarawak, we are thinking of providing this, streamlining it first for the existing Community Colleges.
"For future planning, we will look at the needs in the local areas because as part of government policy, we want to ensure that the Community College is used as a place to supply human resources in the area," he said after the Papar Community College @ Sabah Digital Academy Officiating Ceremony, yesterday.
