ALOR SETAR, August 23 - The Ministry of Education (MOE) remains committed to ensuring access to the best education in Kedah. This matter was expressed through the implementation of 68 dilapidated school building reconstruction projects.

MOE in a statement said a total of 49 projects have been fully completed and 11 are under construction. While the other 8 are at the pre-construction stage with a total allocation of RM342,816,591.

In 2024, the ministry also allocated RM47,433,266 for the purpose of maintaining educational institutions in Kedah. It involves a total of 829 projects in 573 MOE institutions.

"Humane education ensures access to the best education for all students regardless of their background or whereabouts," the MOE said in a statement posted on its official Facebook page.

The statement was also shared by the Minister of Education, Fadhlina Sidek, who previously attended the Education retreat of the Kedah State Education Department and the Semarak Merdeka Launch in Alor Setar.

Meanwhile, Fadhlina in a statement on her Facebook page today said, the commitment to hold education retreats in each state is to ensure that the national education reform agenda is given full attention.

"Congratulations to the Kedah State Education Department (JPN) for all the efforts carried out to continue to boost the educational potential of children.

"One of the things that has always been our awlawiyat (priority) at the retreat level is to really take a hands-on approach to issues in the state. Whatever concerns the stakeholders have, will be thoroughly discussed in this session," she said.

According to her, several issues such as dropout, multidimensional poverty, curriculum intervention (which is ongoing at all levels) as well as development and infrastructure issues must be given attention.

"I also announced the separation of the Kuala Muda/Yan District Education Office (PPD) administration as a step for us to strengthen the level of efficiency of the PPD administration in the state of Kedah. Similarly, the role of JPN Kedah and ASPnet network schools is quite important in our UNESCO campaign because of Langkawi's strength which has a UNESCO geopark site for the benefit of the world of education," she said.
