KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 10- The Ministry of Health (MOH) is in the process of making amendments to the relevant Medical Regulations 2017, in line with the amendment of the medical act.

Till date, the MOH has held a workshop on the preparation of draft amendments with the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and the Legal Adviser's Office, as well as discussions with stakeholders such as the Malaysian Medical Council and the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

Health Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said, the draft has been taken to the Attorney General's Chambers for finalisation.

"Since the process of registering experts and recognizing specialist training is a complex issue, the ministry needs to take the views of all relevant parties to ensure that the streamlined process is practical and in line with legal demands," he said when answering a question from Bagan Member of Parliament, Lim Guan Eng in Dewan Rakyat here.

He added that medical practitioners who have completed specialist training in the fields of cardiothoracic surgery, plastic surgery and family medicine affected by the recognition issue will be reconsidered to be registered in the Malaysian Medical Council's Specialist Register.
