KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 8- The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) is ready to face any challenges related to telecommunications coverage in affected areas, following the second wave of floods that is expected to begin today.
Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil informed that almost all 323 telecommunications transmission towers that were affected in the first wave of floods, have fully recovered and are now operating as usual.
"We will continue to monitor the telecommunications infrastructure, especially with the expectation of a second wave of floods starting today until December 11th," he said in a press conference after officiating the Ummah Peduli Tour Programme 2024 in Lembah Pantai, Kuala Lumpur.
In his speech earlier at the event, he emphasised that MCMC will expedite the repair work of the affected transmission towers to ensure that residents in the affected areas do not face communication line interruptions, especially in emergency situations.
