KUALA LUMPUR, March 9- The foreign minister, through the Malaysian Consulate General in Songkhla, is closely monitoring the situation in the Yala, Narathiwat and Pattani provinces following several security incidents that occurred recently.
In this regard, Malaysians who are in or planning to go to these regions are advised to always be careful and vigilant.
"The ministry also urged that all non-essential travel to the area be temporarily suspended," it said in a statement.
As a precautionary measure, Malaysians in the region are advised to register with the Malaysian Consulate General in Songkhla.
