KUALA LUMPUR, April 29 – Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, stated that the meeting with the United States administration on April 24, 2025, was conducted in a positive atmosphere and proceeded smoothly.
He shared that during the meeting, Malaysia had the opportunity to engage with key representatives of the United States government. Both parties agreed to continue negotiations aimed at strengthening economic cooperation and addressing several trade-related issues that had emerged.
“This meeting provided a platform for both sides to further examine critical matters and ensure that trade relations between the two countries can continue to grow and improve,” he explained.
He made these remarks during the MITI and Agency Aidilfitri Welcome Ceremony held at Menara MITI, near here, today. The event was also attended by Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Tengku Zafrul further mentioned that a more detailed explanation regarding the outcomes of the meeting will be presented at the National Geoeconomic Action Centre (NGCC) Task Force Meeting, which will be chaired by the Prime Minister tomorrow.
He also noted that follow-up discussions involving representatives from both Malaysia and the United States are scheduled to take place in the near future, with the aim of concluding negotiations amicably and avoiding the imposition of any retaliatory tariff measures by either party.
