KUALA LUMPUR, February 15- Malaysia’s subsea marine industry is poised for growth through a strategic collaboration between local firm Ezed Energy Sdn Bhd (EESB) and Turkish robotics leader, Hoytek.
The partnership was formalized during the Malaysia-Turkiye Business Forum, which recently took place at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre.
EESB CEO Mohd Tarmizi Yahaya stated that the collaboration will facilitate the transfer of sustainable Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) technology, with the potential to position Malaysia as a key ROV manufacturer for the Asian market in the future.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Hoytek, whose innovative approach aligns perfectly with our mission to deliver sustainable solutions. Together, we aim to set new standards in efficiency and safety for underwater operations and foster local talent in this growing sector,” Mohd Tarmizi remarked.
The first phase of the partnership will focus on producing Work Class ROVs, which will be marketed to marine and energy sectors globally. The partnership anticipates generating a value of US$65 million (RM300 million).
Beyond ROV production, the collaboration will also incorporate Hoytek’s advanced robotics technology alongside Ezed Energy’s expertise in energy applications. These vehicles are designed to enhance operational efficiency and safety in a variety of sectors, including marine, security, and defense.
EESB Chairman Ferol Zamhuri Mamat highlighted that the collaboration could involve local Malaysian institutions, aligning with the government’s push to promote Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs.
Hoytek CEO Dr. Bertan Tezcan emphasized the company’s commitment to exploring new technological frontiers with Malaysia.
“Our partnership with Ezed Energy Sdn Bhd greatly contributes to our vision of creating smart, sustainable ROV solutions to meet the evolving needs of the subsea marine industry,” said Dr. Bertan.
